Upgrading the 1.6 injectors

The factory NA6 1.6L injectors are nothing to brag about and when you’re upgrading to either a NA8 1.8L or forced induction, upgraded injectors are a must have.

There are tons of resources available for selecting injectors, but a lot of information is either outdated or the parts are no longer financially feasible. Miataturbo developed a pretty good table for available and compatible injectors >> LINK

The yellow RX8 injectors have always been a viable option for cheap upgrades, but cheap Chinese manufacturing has made clone injectors which are not flow tested.

We opted for some Flow Force 640cc injectors, which claim to be flow enough for 300WHP.

The kit came with everything you could need, including orings and stickers (+5whp).

Installation is super easy on the 1.6L, but I’ll let all of you figure that out.

Only difference is the harnesses poking up.

We didn’t get a chance to start the motor up as we are waiting on a few more parts before we can get the initial startup going, however, were confident the injectors will operate just fine. FlowForce provides all of the tuning information and tables to make tuning a breeze.

Look at the size difference between 1990 technology vs 2020.

All in all, I’d definitely recommend the injectors, with a price point of $319, it’s definitely an expensive purchase, but one you won’t need to repeat.
